1. Do not speed in Arizona.
Saturday I get a call from Aaron and I hear "Babe. I just got pulled over they and they are going to take the car." I quickly say back...."Don't get out of the car!" Well it comes down to Aaron having a ticket back in November. That we know we paid for. But, when the Arizona cop pulled Aaron over, they said his license was suspended. In Aaron's defense, he was going 79 in a 75 but they claimed they clocked him at 85.
They still took the car for the suspended license, which left him sitting at a gas station waiting for his friend to pick him up and drive him his last 6 hours to Cali.
With this being Sat, we had to wait until Monday because the DMV was closed.
Lesson# 2
Don't get your license in VA. We will get to this more. Do not do anything with VA DMV!!!
Lesson #3 Do have a good friend in AZ. Josh Peterson is one of Aaron's best friends from when we were in Hawaii. He drove 6 hours to pick Aaron up. So Aaron is sitting in a gas station with what he could grab from the car just sitting as he said nasty old truck drivers were coming in and out. I knew once Josh picked up Aaron he was okay. They talked football and made the drive to 29 Palms. Thank you Erika for letting him go for the day!
Lesson #4 Have friends who know Sheriff's in Arizona.
Thanks David and Krissie for taking care of Aaron when he stopped in through New Mexico. And thanks for trying to clear things up...even though it didn't work.Lesson # 5 Have an uncle who is a sheriff who can let you know how much people are doing the right thing...Thanks for the help Uncle Lorin!
Lesson #6 Going back to Lesson #2. Don't do anything with VA DMV. We found out that Aaron's ticket was not the problem. The DMV is claiming that when we bought our car in VA in 2006 when we left Hawaii, we did not show proof of insurance on the car. Which is ridiculous, because you can't drive away from a dealership without insurance. So, because they claimed they mailed a letter asking for proof of insurance and they did not get one....they suspended his license. They claim that we did not update it when we left Hawaii.
Lesson # 6 Don't be afraid to ask information they are not revealing.
Me: I have a Hawaii license, but since you are saying that its an insurance thing, can you check my licence?
Lady: Are you insured on the car?
Me: Yes I am.
Lady: Yes, your license is suspended.
Let's just say the rest of the conversation does not need to be on here. Oh....I was livid!!!!
End of conversation:
Me: Are you telling me that if I got pulled over they could take my other car?
Lady: Yes
Me: And when were you going to check my license????
I hope that you learned not to speed, make good friends, and do not EVER deal with VA DMV.
Now Aaron has to get another friend to drive him the 12 hour round trip this weekend to get his (my) car.
Besides that we are okay :)

that is just crazy and insane. luke says to sue the Va DMV. the impound of the car is going to be huge$$$$$...good luck. let us know if we can help out.
Yeah that sounds like it really sucks. I will keep that in all in mind in the future though. It is great to find out things like suspended license or that you have a warrant out for your arrest for something that was taken care of. We had that happen with Tony. Of course we found out before he could get pulled over and carted off to jail. We actually found out from our insurance company. :-)

I can't believe you guys are such law breakers. Who knew we were friends with fugitives? I'm so embarrassed.
I'm so glad everything worked out ok. I'm glad you were able to share Aaron with us for the night. We had tons of fun hanging out and eating wings. Ummm. Yummy. I still can't wait to see you the both of you guys again!
