Out of the mouths of Babes.....

I'm sitting with my two third graders and Jose was telling David how his baby-sitter was cussing at him the other day. David says,"Did you tell your dad?" Jose says, "Yeah, I said he should go 'down there' for cussing." David asks," Did he cuss more than once?" Jose says "Yeah" Then David says, "Well, if you cuss once, you're okay. If you cuss more than once, you do go down there."

Thank goodness our church believes in repentance!

In Samoa the men cook......

After some pondering of my schedule of teaching seminary, teaching full time, pulling a second job, going to the gym, doing the dishes, mowing the yard, doing laundry, and all the other good things around the house......then thinking of Aaron and his one job (all in joking aside-- I would never want the stress of his job......) which sometimes is a full day, sometimes less than half....I thought that we should take on this Samoan tradition (Aaron IS Samoan).....after all he does make some amazing shrimp, chicken, fish, pretty much there is no argument that he is the better cook. After I made that suggestion he said, "But you are a picky eater." Looking at him confused....there are not too many things I don't eat. I'll list them for you and I'm pretty sure most of you don't either....

Sushi =Raw fish:
Caviar= Fish Eggs Mushrooms = Gross (I can pick them out though)

Crab= Funny taste

Escargot=Snail

Octupus= Couldn't get past the smell

Shout out to my personal trainer....

I just wanted to give a shout out to my hot personal trainer.

Thanks for motivating me to take care of myself. While the weight is not coming off as fast as I wish it would, your encouragement is helping me more than you know. Thanks for making me do extra ab wheels for eating skittles, which I haven't done since!

Why I love teaching.....

1. Yesterday interem's went home. I wrote on a student's form," There is constant repetition needed for retention." I got a note back from the parent saying, "This is not an option. I know the statistics for my people. It affects their social/emotional needs for the rest of their lives." I wrote back to the parent saying I was referring to retention "of concepts", not the "grade level."

2. Yesterday I had to restrain a child (which I hate doing). He was trying to break the study carrel with his feet and bang his head on the wall of it. He was crying and saying how much he hated me. Today he brought in an apology note saying I was the coolest teacher ever.

3. Today I had my 4th grade boys write letters to their moms. I started off saying that the letter does not have to be to mom, knowing only half of them do live with their mom. Well two in particular that did not live with mom, insisted they would make a really good one for her. We got on the computer and found pictures to put on their cards. One of my boys started crying. He couldn't write in cursive good enough and he wanted her to see him write in cursive. I got to have him trace mine. Then my other boy started crying, he couldn't cut straight enough,I had to help him with that. They wanted to impress their moms so much! I had to explain to them that their mom would be happy just knowing they was thinking of her.

So when I come home from an exhausting day of work....I get to look back on these memories and know it was worth it!
